Do you live in Ontario? Maybe visiting? Are you in the mood to kick up your heels and learn more about the land of dance? Well then look no further than the National Ballet of Canada's weekend of fun and frolic Ballet by the Water. There will be costume workshops, an activity area for the kids, workshops, free open-air performances, plus "an afternoon at the barre" special masters class
that will allow you a look behind the scenes into the wonderful world of ballet. Here's a sampling of just some of the exciting events you can attend:
Performance
The National Ballet performs from a repertoire that includes Les Sylphides, staged by Magdalena Popa, and James Kudelka's Désir. And this just in … Evelyn Hart will perform as guest artist.
Other performances will include Tides of Mind with Martine Lamy & Rex Harrington, "The Four Seasons - Summer Pas de Deux" with Chan Hon Goh & Aleksandar Antonijevic and Swan Lake - Act IV Pas de Deux with Xiao Nan Yu & Ryan Boorne
Narrated Company Class
The audience is guided through the teaching process.
Narrated Ballet Rehearsals
The audience is guided through the rehearsal process.
Harbourkids Creative Workshop
Presented by Global Educational Trust Plan: Make-and-take dancing ballerina, cone dolls, sun amulets and easel painting.
Children's Dance Workshop
Kids can have fun exploring movement and expressing creativity in this class for children ages 5-11.
Costumes & Props
A display of National Ballet costumes, wigs and props.
Sat. Noon-7pm, Lakeside Terrace
Afternoon at the Barre
An open beginner ballet class for ages 12 to adult, led by a National Ballet of Canada dancer.

Fans of the musical won't want to miss tonight's broadcast of Gigi, Colette's story of a young French girl, groomed to be a courtesan. Chevalier's grand, Jourdan is charming and Gingold is perfectly crotchety, but it's really Caron
who shines as the innocent girl who blossoms into a Parisian knockout. CBC-TV late night, 11:30 p.m.
More Fringe Theatre
The second Prince George Fringe festival is underway this weekend. There will all kinds of performance arts such as street performers, buskers and readings, plus great music. The festival brings together performers from the
region, other parts of Canada, the U.S., as well as Europe. Just about anything goes as long nobody breaks the law. There will also be craftspeople selling their wares, as well as exhibitions from visual artists. Tickets run
from $5-$7.00 depending on performance. For more info check out the site at:
